Treasury bills can only be allocated to registered tender counterparties (mainly financial institutions) in a Treasury bill tender. The minimum amount that may be issued in a tender is $1 million.
Some of these institutions may make Treasury bills available in smaller parcels to individual customers. The minimum amount that may be offered in these circumstances is $10,000 and multiples of $1,000 after that. Any such offer or on-sale of Treasury bills to members of the New Zealand public must be made under the Product Disclosure Statement.
If you are an individual investor and would like to know more about investment in Treasury bills, you should consult your investment adviser in the first instance.
